On 23 January 2025 Binance Labs was renamed YZi Labs. Its investment focus widened from Web3 to include artificial intelligence and biotechnology, and Changpeng Zhao took a more active role in investing and mentoring founders; Ella Zhang is responsible for the firm. [2][3][1]
Ownership description disputed
Bloomberg and others described the firm as becoming a family office of Changpeng Zhao and He Yi; YZi Labs has said it is not a family office. Both accounts are reported here without a ruling. [1][4]
Activities
The firm publishes articles on its own blog, for example on a long-term bet on artificial intelligence and augmented human potential. [5] It is described as a backer of BNB Standard. [6][7]
